Coppertone, Banana Boat, Hawaiian Tropics - Oh my!! Did you know most commercial sunscreens are filled with toxic carcinogens and hormone disrupters? Sunscreens that include the following toxic ingredients in their products are unfortunately doing more harm to our bodies than good:
• Nanoparticles/Nanomaterial
- A free radical, and carcinogenic commonly found in beauty and cleaning products.
- Will be absorbed into skin and inhaled which can cause DNA damage.
• Retinyl Palmitate/Vitamin A
- An anti-aging and antioxidant ingredient that when in sunscreen is found to be a carcinogenic.
• Oxybenzone
- A Hormone distruptor, can induce allergies type symptoms and cause DNA damage.
While you're outside getting your daily dose of vitamin D, enjoy the summer sunshine and protect your body's largest organ with non-toxic sunscreen!
Here are some brands I recommended:
Alba Botanica - Natural Very Emollient Sunblock Fragrance Free
(We've been using Alba's sunscreen since Elle was just a babe)
Green Babies - Zinc Oxide SPF 30 Sunscreen Unscented
(I had the pleasure of meeting the kind-hearted owners of Green Babies a few months ago. I absolutely love how passionate they are about their non-toxic, green products.)
Aubrey Organics - Natural Sun SPF Unscented Sentive Skin/Children
I also love Sophie Uliano's homemade sunscreen recipe!

Great information, Cousin! Thanks for sharing. I am a sunscreen enthusiast and totally agree that you should NEVER go commercial when it comes to sunscreen, especially for the little ones. <3
